Hello! I'm Devin, and this is a website! I currently work as a Freelance Web Developer, making websites for other people and tinkering with innumerable side-projects in my free time. Maybe you can check them out here! Maybe not! IT IS A MYSTERY.
I regularily work with and built apps with Ruby on Rails. I'm currently in the process of learning/getting more proficient with Python, and React. I am excited about learning and expanding my areas of expertise in the realm of coding and beyond. I am also experienced with Javascript, HTML/CSS, PHP, Wordpress, eCommerce, PostgreSQL, jQuery, AJAX and Node.js.
Outside of coding for fun and profit, I am both a tech junkie and certifiable nerd. My nerdly hobbies range from comics, video games, tabletop RPGs, and everything in-between. I spend time writing and talking (and sometimes even streaming!) about these sorts of things on my website, the Coalition of AWESOME. I also like to rock climb, when I manage to pull myself away from the computer.
While the majority of my coding experience has been self-taught over the years, (Remember making websites on Geocities? I do!) I originally graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honors Bachelor's in English and Theatre. I've worked in a variety of roles and across numerous industries (Event Managment, Operations, Theatre Technician), but have enjoyed coding and building websites and applications enough to make it my career. I completed a Full-Time Web Development Bootcamp at General Assembly's Bitmaker Labs here in Toronto, and have been working in Web Development ever since.
